Website design
Websites designed to look good, get found and generate enquiries.
I design WordPress websites that give your business a professional online presence and make it easy for potential customers to find what they need and get in touch.
You’ll have complete ownership and control when your website is finished, with training if you’d like to manage it yourself – and I’m still here when you’d rather leave it to me.

Your website and what’s included

To appear in search results, your website needs to make it clear to search engines what you do, who you help and the subjects each page is about. Also for local search results, where you are based and areas you cover.
I can research the words and phrases your potential customers use when searching and optimise important on-page elements such as page titles, headings, content, URLs, internal links and image alt text. I can also write clear meta descriptions designed to encourage people to click through from search results.

I ensure all websites I create are ‘responsive’ which means they adapt in size and layout to the visitor’s screen size, to make sure it looks great whether it is viewed on a mobile, tablet, desktop or laptop.
Well over 50% of all internet traffic now comes from smartphones and tablets so it’s important they can easily navigate around your site and view its content without having to zoom in and out.
A mobile-friendly website is also important for search visibility, as Google primarily uses the mobile version of a website when crawling and indexing its content.

I can add lots of interesting elements including:
- Image sliders
- Galleries
- Charts
- Checklists
- Forms
- Animated number counters
- FAQs
- Maps
- Social media feeds
- Pop-ups
- Pricing tables
- Videos
- and more

I build websites using WordPress, which gives you an easy-to-use content management system for updating pages, text, images, videos and other content.
Once your website is complete, I can show you (or a member of your team) how to manage, maintain and update it. You have the Administrator login details to access and manage your website and you can add users and permissions too. So YOU have full control (if you want it!)

Depending on your requirements, this could include Stripe or PayPal payments, subscriptions, customer accounts, product reviews, shipping options, sales reporting and integrations with other systems.

Regularly publishing useful, relevant content gives search engines more information about your expertise and the topics your website covers. It also gives you useful content to share through social media, newsletters and other marketing.
I can create and publish articles for you and include images and videos.

I can embed feeds of posts into your website from your social media pages, add icons that link to your social media pages and also allow people to ‘share’ your pages and articles with their followers and friends.
Making your social channels easy to find (and your website content easy to share) can help you reach a wider audience and keep people connected with your business.

I can help you arrange your domain and web hosting in your own name or company name, so you retain control of both.
I currently recommend to all my clients an excellent provider, because I’ve found their hosting competitively priced (without charging for extras like the SSL certificate or email accounts) and their support fast and helpful.

I ensure all websites I develop have an SSL certificate for security of your website and its visitors.
Also a privacy and cookie policy with an ‘Accept Cookies’ pop up is created. I ensure websites I develop have an SSL certificate and can set up the cookies popup bar.
I’ll also help you identify the website-related information you’ll need for your privacy and cookie policies, although responsibility for legal compliance ultimately remains with your business.

Once your website is completed and launched, I can provide a two-hour training session, to show you how to manage and update it yourself, with no coding knowledge required. This will save you money (paying me or a website company to manage your site) and will keep you in control – able to update your site whenever and however you want.
The training includes:
- Updating WordPress, the theme files and plugins when new versions become available
- Back-ups and restoring the website files
- Editing/adding text and images to the pages
- Editing and adding other elements, e.g. buttons, tables, contact forms, testimonials etc.
- Adding new pages
The training session(s) are via Zoom and recorded for you to watch whenever you need to.
Some clients enjoy managing their own website after training. Others quickly discover that their time is better spent running their business, so they simply send me their updates and I take care of everything. Either option is absolutely fine.

After your website launches, I respond to support requests quickly – usually the same day during office hours. Don’t just take my word for it – you’ll see responsiveness mentioned regularly in my client feedback.

Built with search visibility in mind
I build websites that are optimised for search engines and can show you websites I’ve built appearing prominently for relevant searches.
Same-day responses
I respond the same day during office hours and provide just as fast and efficient support after the launch of your website.
Manage it yourself – if you want to
I’ll show you how to update your WordPress website yourself, or I can continue looking after it for you.
You own and control it
It’s your website. On project completion, you are the owner and have complete control of your website, domain and hosting.
Support doesn’t end at launch
I’m still here when you need changes, advice or help after your website goes live.
Website Design FAQs
If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact Steph.
Yes. If your current website needs a refresh, I can redesign it to improve its appearance, content, structure and usability.
If it’s already built in WordPress, I may be able to work with the existing site. If it’s built using another platform, I’ll look at the options and recommend the most practical and cost-effective approach.
WordPress is the world’s most widely used website platform and gives businesses enormous flexibility without everything having to be custom-developed from scratch.
It uses plugins to add different features and functionality, many of which are free or available for a low cost. WordPress, themes and plugins are also regularly updated by their developers to keep pace with changes in technology and web browsers.
This can make developing and maintaining a website much more cost-effective than having bespoke functionality coded from scratch.
Yes. Your website should always belong to you.
I make sure you have ownership and control of your domain and hosting account, then once the final payment has been made, the website itself and the content and images created for the project are yours too.
You’re not tied to Belluber simply because I’ve designed your website – although hopefully you’ll want to stick around!
I don’t sell domains or hosting myself, but I’ll help you arrange them.
I can recommend an excellent provider that offers good-value hosting with first-class support, and I’ll guide you through setting everything up correctly. I can also do this with you via Zoom screen share.
I’ve also helped several clients move existing websites to the provider I recommend, saving them money on their hosting in the process.
Yes. You can supply your own content, or I can research your business, industry and competitors and write it for you.
I’ll create content designed to appeal to the people you want to reach, explain clearly why they should choose your business and encourage them to take the next step.
I’ll also consider search visibility as I write, so we’re creating content for people and helping search engines understand what your pages are about.
Yes. Search engine optimisation is considered throughout the website rather than being something added at the end.
I’ll look at the keywords and phrases your potential customers are likely to use and incorporate them naturally into headings, page content, meta information and image details.
If you’re supplying the website copy yourself, I can optimise that content for search engines too.
No ethical web designer can guarantee a particular search engine position, but I’ll make sure your website has strong foundations for being found for relevant searches.
It depends on the size of the website and how quickly the information and feedback I need is available.
A straightforward five-page website can potentially be completed within a week if you provide all the content in advance and are available to review the work promptly as it progresses.
Larger projects naturally take longer, and sometimes the biggest influence on the timescale is simply how quickly clients have time to review pages, provide information and approve the next stage.
We’ll agree a realistic schedule before the project starts.
Absolutely. One of the advantages of WordPress is that you don’t have to rely on a web designer every time you want to make content changes.
I offer training for clients who would like to manage some or all of their website themselves.

Yes. If you’d rather concentrate on running your business and leave the website to me, I offer both essential website maintenance and ongoing content and design updates.

I’m still here!
My support doesn’t suddenly disappear once your website launches. I have clients who contact me years after I’ve built their website when they need help or want something changed.
I’ll respond as quickly as possible with an indication of timescale and cost. For smaller updates, I can usually fit the work in that week as I deliberately keep some space in my schedule for unexpected client requests.
Website costs vary considerably depending on the size, content and functionality required.
Smaller websites typically can start from around £995, while larger business websites involving extensive content, functionality and SEO are usually several thousand pounds. Once I understand what you need, I’ll provide a clear and detailed quotation.
