Website Management & Training

Once your website is live, it doesn’t mean it is finished. Websites need updating regularly – not just with fresh content but also the software (WordPress itself, theme files and plugins) to keep it as secure as possible.

I can do this for you, or provide training for you (or a member of your team) to manage it.

Website Management FAQs

If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact Steph.

You can choose the level of support you need.

Essential monthly maintenance includes website backups, WordPress software updates, Avada theme updates, plugin updates, a general site check and an enquiry form test.

I can also manage ongoing content and design changes, either as and when you need them or by agreeing a maximum number of hours each month.

No. Depending on how the website has been built and its current condition, I may be able to manage a website designed by somebody else.

I’ll take a look at it first and let you know what I can help with.

Essential WordPress, theme and plugin maintenance is carried out monthly.

Content updates can be as regular as your business needs. For example, I can add news, articles or projects every month, or you can simply contact me whenever you have something that needs changing.

Yes. Backups are part of the essential maintenance service, providing a restore point should one ever be needed. Backups are stored on your website’s hosting server, and I also keep a separate copy securely off-site in cloud storage. This provides an additional safeguard in case the backups held by your hosting provider are unavailable or lost for any reason.

Yes. WordPress, your website theme and plugins are regularly updated by their developers to maintain security, compatibility and functionality.

It is important that these updates are carried out regularly. Leaving them for long periods can increase the risk of security vulnerabilities, compatibility problems or parts of your website no longer working as they should.

You can manage this essential maintenance yourself, and I can provide training to show you how. Alternatively, if you’d rather not have to think about it, my essential maintenance service can take care of the updates, backups, general site checks and enquiry form testing for you each month.

Whichever option you choose, I recommend that essential website maintenance isn’t simply left undone.

Yes. I can add and update text, images, news, articles, project case studies and new pages.

I can simply add content you supply, or I can help research, write and prepare it for you.

Yes. Content and website changes can be carried out on an ad-hoc basis, so there’s no need to commit to a set number of hours each month.

Just contact me when you need something changed and I’ll let you know the likely timescale and cost.

I can investigate the problem and will usually be able to resolve issues resulting from WordPress, theme or plugin updates.

Problems following updates are relatively rare, but third-party software is outside my control, so I can’t guarantee that an update released by WordPress, a theme developer or a plugin developer will always be error-free.

If additional work is needed to resolve an issue, I’ll let you know and quote for it separately where necessary.

Essential monthly website maintenance is £25 per month, or £200 per year when paid annually.

Content updates depend on what you need. Something simple, such as adding a selection of new photos, might only require an hour at £55.

More involved content naturally takes longer. For example, an architect or building contractor might ask me to create a new project case study each month. In that situation, I could research the project, write the case study and prepare the supplied images ready for the website.

You only pay for the level of help your website actually needs.

Not necessarily – it depends on your business and the purpose of your website.

However, keeping important information accurate and up to date is essential, and regularly adding useful new content can give people a reason to visit your website and help demonstrate that your business is active and knowledgeable.

New articles, news, projects, case studies and other useful content can also create more opportunities for your website to be found through Google and other search platforms.

You don’t need to add content simply for the sake of making changes. I can help you decide what is actually worth updating or adding and how often it makes sense for your business.

If you’d prefer to manage the content updates yourself, I can provide training to show you how – see ‘Content Updates Training’ below.
